If you're from South Philly, then you probably refer to FDR Park as, "The Lakes." This is the single, best park to go to in South Philadelphia. The playground is not that great, but there are lots of other exciting things to do. The park has wide open fields, and plenty of space to picnic or barbecue. FDR Park is located at 1500 Pattison Avenue in south Philadelphia, near the stadiums. The Park was designed in 1914 by the Olmstead Brothers. Everyone hyped up Geno's to be the best place (in Philadelphia) that you can get a cheese steak from. They're wrong. I love Philip's ♥. There are two windows at Philip's. They get so many orders for steaks, that the window on the right, is for ordering cheese steaks (& a few other sandwiches). The window to the left is for ordering corny things that you can get anywhere. So you get your fries, nuggets and things like that from that window. When you order your steak, you don't hold the line up with unnecessary words. You say, "Can I have one, with & whiz." or just, "One, with, whiz and American." The first means you want one cheese steak with onions and cheese whiz. Obviously, the 2nd, is adding American cheese. Don't ask for peppers on your sandwich, they'll charge you for that. Instead ask for a wrapper, and take advantage of the free peppers they have sat out with the condiments. Philip's is located in south Philadelphia off

People in our neighborhood call this Smith Playground. (Not to be confused with Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse , which is located in Fairmount Park). Smith Playground, is a grassy open park in South Philadelphia. It sits across the street from Vare Middle School and down the street from the 1st District Police station. There is wide open space to run and aside from the spray paint on the slides and walls, it's not such a bad looking park. I've been going to this park since my oldest daughter was one (she's 14 now). The Public Swimming pool was replaced with a "sprayground" for cost & safety reasons back in 2005. If I remember correctly, the swings were removed the same year. The City has however, managed to keep a handful, of much appreciated programs alive for the community. The park is located at 2100 S. 24th Street in the 19145 zip code. I accidentally threw away my glasses one night, (that's so me, I had put them in a plastic bag with some snacks). That was over a year ago and I just recently took on the challenge of selecting and purchasing new eyeglasses . This is a challenge to me, because I always have a difficult time selecting the best glasses for my face shape and skin tone. Honestly, I hate the way I look in any glasses and if I didn't need prescription glasses in order to operate a vehicle, I would go without them. (I do not recommend that anyone else do that, and I'm sure my optometrist would scold me). In order to prevent myself from getting another ticket, I had to take on the task of finding some glasses that I would feel comfortable and confident in.
